| If you're still out there you have probably noticed that I have not been. Obviously I have not been consistent with my xanga, I never even updated my myspace or facebook even once. I do however use twitter and tumblr quite often because I can update with my phone. If you are on either of those I would love to hear from you. Click here for my twitter. | This morning God blew me away so I wanted to share what he is teaching me lately...
Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law but under grace.
Law in that verse literally means legalism...Legalism by definition is a perversion of the law into a system of rules for earning God's praise without trusting, loving, or communing with God the Giver of the law.
Under means controlled by or in subjection to.
So we are not "in subjection to" legalism but we are "in subjection to" grace.
How are we then in subjection to grace?
Grace does not have the usual oppressive characteristics of subjection. God's people (people who are in a trusting, loving relationship with God) are to live within the framework of the law but not in subjection to legalism (which remember is a perversion of the law into a system of rules for earning God's praise without a trusting, loving relationship with God).
Grace by it's nature is a "gracious subjection" where legalism is a "harsh subjection".
Let me simplify this:
The law (an expression of love itself) is not a burden to those who are in a relationship with Jesus because we are under grace. If you are not in a real relationship you will always form God's law into a list of rules and regulations--LEGALISM. After all His "yoke" is easy and his burden is light.

| Coram Deo was amazing (as usual) both dramas were the best EVER...raps kicked tail...largest youth retreat in the history of Harvest Time (250)...90 baptisms (each of which were by far the coolest part of the retreat).
Testimonies tonight, Grad Weekend starts on Friday...long weeks, great times...I'm going to miss this class--the first EVER of MCRemix! |
